How strong are your wrists? You may not realize it, but your wrists and forearms are needed for many activities. Whether you want to improve your tennis or golf game, or simply enhance your ability to perform everyday tasks, wrist swings, which are variations of wrist curls and extensions, will help you do that. Here’s how to perform the exercise properly:

While standing, hold a dumbbell in each hand with your arms hanging at your sides, palms facing your body.
Slowly bend your wrists up so your thumb faces ceiling. Then slowly bend your wrists back in the direction of your little finger.
Keep your body motionless and your arms straight throughout the movement so that just your wrists are doing the work.

Repeat the movement 12 to 15 times. The amount of weight should be such that it is an effort to complete 15 repetitions. Instead of dumbbells, you can also use soup cans.

As with all exercises, this movement may not be appropriate for people with certain medical conditions. If you’re unsure, check with your physician.

* Universal life lets you raise or lower the death benefit and vary the amount and timing of the premiums. It is interest-rate sensitive, so if interest rates are low, it is not a good investment.

Cash-value life insurance comes with high commissions, sometimes as high as 75% or more of your first year’s premiums. A study by the Consumer Federation of America established that returns are not very rewarding unless you hold your policy for at least 15 years, at which point commissions stop eating into the returns.

Whether you go for term or cash value, buy from a solid insurance company, one that will outlast you. To check on a company’s financial stability, call Standard & Poor’sfor a free rating. Select a company rated A or above. Finally, before purchasing any type of life insurance, get a copy of the free guide.

Term is best if you need coverage for a certain time period — say until your children finish college or you become very rich. It’s also a good choice if you think you won’t need insurance after you turn 60, when the premiums become terribly expensive.

Two things to keep in mind as you shop for a term policy: Buy a policy that is renewable so you won’t have to prove you’re insurable at the end of each term, and get a “convertible” term policy. This gives you the option to convert to a permanent insurance policy without having to get a physical.

Cash Flo suggests you use your computer to shop for a term policy. Begin with the Term Life Estimator from the QuickQuote Insurance Agency.

Fill in the form with the requested information — such as your age, income, living expenses — and the calculator will tell you how much insurance you need. This site also has a database of 1,500 term life and annuity plans to help you find the best policy.

Two other similar sites with term-policy quotes are InstantQuote, which has a well-written glossary explaining insurance lingo, and Quotesmith.

Whole life and universal life fall into this category. This type of insurance — called permanent because as long as you pay your premiums, it provides permanent coverage — combines insurance with a tax-deferred savings account. However, your premium, based on your age when you purchase the policy, will be much higher than with term.

Many accidents happen at work, home and it is extremely important to become prepared and also to care for your children, friends. Obtain reliable and safe first aid kit from a wide assortment of professional resources.

Are universal and whole life insurance policies good investments? I’ve read that they only benefit the insurance agents who collect large commissions when they sell them, especially as compared to term life insurance.

Good question! Let’s start at the beginning. You may not even need life insurance. Its purpose is to provide money for someone after you die. So if you’re single and not responsible for taking care of children, a spouse, elderly parents or a disabled sibling, you can skip it entirely.

However, if you do need to provide for others, the rule of thumb is to buy five to six times your annual earnings. But, like all rules of thumb, this one’s not 100% accurate, especially if you have other assets (more later about an online service that will help answer the question of how much to get).

If you decide to buy coverage, you’ll need to decide between permanent (also known as cash-value) and term life insurance.

Term is the cheapest and easiest to buy — you can even purchase a policy online (explained below). Term provides only life insurance; in other words, only coverage for your beneficiary for a specified time or “term,” usually one, five, 10 or 20 years, or in some cases, up to age 65. It has absolutely no savings or investment feature.

If you die during the term of the policy, your beneficiary receives the full face value of the policy. If you stop paying your premiums, the policy lapses.

Rapid ejaculation may make men experience myriad of sensations. Obtain powerful, safe premature ejaculation treatment designed to last longer during sex, and boost your stamina, energy.

Bladder control problems, also known as urinary incontinence, is a common problem which affects up to 30 percent of all active men and women over age 60. Post-menopausal women are more likely to be affected than are men. In fact, 80 percent of those who experience bladder control problems are women. Unfortunately, incontinence may adversely affect quality of life and even be associated with nursing home admissions. As a maturing woman myself, I know I want to maximize my long-term quality of life and minimize my chances for institutional living. I hope that with the information provided, I can help you improve your quality of life.

Is Loss of Bladder Control an Inevitable Result of Getting Older?
No, usually there is a cause for one’s loss of bladder control. Often, it can be treated, cured or at least managed. However, the cause of one’s incontinence must be established with a healthcare provider first so that the management and treatment can be customized.

Why Are Women More Commonly Affected Than Men?
The post-menopausal decreased estrogenic environment may contribute to loss of bladder control due to the thinning of supporting tissues and other changes. However, anatomic differences between men and women may also play a role. For example, the male urethra (the tube which carries urine outside the body) is longer than the female urethra. While the male urethra averages 20 centimeters in length, the female urethra averages only 4 centimeters in length. This anatomically shorter urethra is more likely to be affected by changes in one’s internal abdominal pressure, such as straining with a difficult bowel movement, heavy lifting, sneezing, laughing or coughing. These increases in intra-abdominal pressure associated with involuntarily loss of urine are sometimes associated with a type of incontinence known as stress urinary incontinence.

Is Urinary Incontinence Only a Problem for Older People?
I’m 38 years old, recently gave birth to an 8-pound baby vaginally, and have noticed that sometimes I lose urine when I cough or lift heavier things.

Involuntary loss of urine can occur at any age, although it is most common in older people. Being postpartum after a vaginal birth, your anatomy has temporarily changed somewhat from before you were pregnant. Before pregnancy, your uterus is about the size of a small pear.

As the baby grows, your uterus really stretches out to accommodate the baby, cushioning amniotic fluid and placenta.

When you deliver vaginally and push the baby out, there may be some temporary descent of the uterus, which can lead to subsequent involuntary loss of urine. Often, this corrects itself in time, but it may contribute to involuntary loss of urine in the future as well. This explains why women who have delivered babies vaginally sometimes have incontinence due to uterine or bladder prolapse, conditions in which there is loss of anatomic support holding up the uterus and/or bladder sufficiently to avoid incontinence. Talk to your healthcare provider to make sure there is no other cause for your urinary leakage, such as urinary tract infection or other causes.

Now you can screen yourself for about 20 different medical conditions from the comfort of your own home.
Home tests can give you and your doctor a real head start. But used incorrectly, they can cause more problems than they solve.

Pregnancy and diabetes tests work in similar ways. When you place urine onto a specially treated paper, the paper may change color to indicate your condition.

The home test for blood in the stool could save your life. That blood may be the first sign of curable intestinal cancer. Often you can’t see it with your eyes, but the home kit can detect it. Early detection can lead to early treatment and a cure.

However, these kits aren’t foolproof. If you don’t understand or follow the instructions correctly, you may end up with the wrong results. Your diet can affect some tests. And home pregnancy kits may miss some pregnancies.

Your best bet?

Read and follow the directions carefully, and listen to your body. If the results surprise you, check the test again, and check with your doctor.

Internet gambling has evoked significant interest from state attorneys general, professional and amateur sports leagues, consumer groups, and civil libertarians. All are debating, often in court, the public policy issues surrounding gambling in the new environment of cyberspace. The debate has created some strange bedfellows as antigambling groups and some traditional casinos have appeared on the same side of the issue by advocating prohibition.

Threat to governments
The genesis of the controversy over Internet gambling is the threat it poses to governments that fear losing the ability to set gambling policy within their own state or country. Suppose many patrons of virtual casinos reside in a state like Utah, where the state legislature has decided that gambling in any form is unacceptable. The rationale for such policy may be moralistic (“God says gambling is wrong”) or pragmatic (“While gambling may have some benefits, its burdens in the form of social problems are too great”). In any case, having citizens gambling at home at a virtual casino clearly frustrates Utah’s public policy.

Let the buyer beware
But what about people who reside in a state like Nevada, where gambling is legal? Here, the government allows gambling but heavily regulates and taxes it. Again, gambling in cyberspace poses substantial problems. Who regulates online gambling to ensure the games are honest? Who licenses the operators and assures that they have sufficient bankrolls to pay winning wagers? Who resolves disputes that patrons may have with the casino? What prevents the casino from closing down and taking all the money in patrons’ accounts? The answer to all of these questions is, no one. Patrons are left in the ultimate world of caveat emptor; in other words, let the buyer beware.

Unregulated online gambling effects
This is the cause of concern expressed by some traditional casinos that oppose Internet gambling. They fear that scandals in unregulated cyberspace could cloud the public’s perception of all legal gambling. In turn, the public may either decide to support a prohibition on all forms of gambling or simply believe that all gambling is dishonest.

Problem gambling
Moreover, many places that allow some forms of gambling may be especially wary of in-home gambling. In Great Britain, for instance, gambling is legal but strictly controlled to ensure that the patron is protected from spending too much or being encouraged to gamble by the casino. Much has been written about problem gambling. Some evidence suggests that problem gambling increases as access to gambling devices increases. For example, you are more likely to have problem gambling in a place with video lottery terminals in every store, restaurant, and tavern than a place with casinos limited to resort areas. But what is more accessible than a person’s own computer? It’ s equivalent to placing a slot machine in millions of homes.

Prohibition is difficult
Many governments feel that they cannot allow an unregulated Internet to dictate the policy regarding gambling within their jurisdiction. The difficulty, however, is that the Internet ignores boundaries. In addition, some places (particularly in the Caribbean) have embraced Internet gambling as an economic savior. Governments opposing Internet gambling are in the difficult position of attempting to prohibit an activity where the player is safely within their home and the operator is safely outside the country operating with the full authority of a sovereign nation.

With help of our prepaid calling cards you may make domestic, international calls whenever you want from work, from your home and from your cell phone. So you can use this product everywhere from every cell phone.

Sadly, Kennedy’s case teaches us that although the workplace has made changes in form regarding the issue of sexual harassment, little has changed in substance. What can be done on an institutional level, as well as on an individual level, to make real progress with this long-standing problem?

On the Institutional Level
It is no longer enough for organizations to “talk the talk” about sexual harassment. Now they must “walk the walk.” Policies are meaningless if they don’t result in action. I recommend that the following steps be taken, so that substantive progress can be made in the fight against sexual harassment:

Organizational policy must explicitly clarify what constitutes sexual harassment, and what the consequences will be for the perpetrator.
It must be made patently clear that employees will not be penalized for coming forward with complaints of harassment.
Institutions must take decisive and swift action when such complaints are filed.
Each institution must have an objective, independent body to review each case on it’s own merit, and come to a fair-minded decision based on the facts of that case.

No one, despite organizational rank or power, can be “above” institutional regulations on harassment.
On the Individual Level
Unfortunately victims of all kinds of mistreatment typically blame themselves for being victimized. And why wouldn’t they? Our society has a long history of “blaming the victim,” especially with regard to sexual mistreatment. “You must have done something to bring this on,” has been the spoken or implied message to women (and men) who have endured sexual mistreatment. We must understand that harassment is voluntary behavior, chosen by the perpetrator. Therefore, a victim is entitled to speak up on her own behalf without shame, when she is treated inappropriately.

Fortunately there are ways each woman can minimize the chances that she will be a victim of sexual harassment:Be familiar with your organization’s sexual harassment policies and procedures. If you feel you have been inappropriately touched or spoken to, immediately take the steps outlined by your employer, for problem resolution.

Avoid situations where you will be working alone for stretches of time, or after work, with employees of the opposite sex.
Be sure that your actions and appearance reflect a professional, no-nonsense attitude in the workplace.

This approach doesn’t preclude jovial, relaxed interaction with members of the opposite sex, but it does preclude the acceptance of conduct that is inappropriate.

In sum, both public and private institutions have made progress in the fight against sexual harassment. But when a woman as powerful as Kennedy can become the object of harassment, we know that this progress is only skin deep. In order to put an end to such behavior, we must insist that our institutions take the matter seriously. We must also remember, however, that the goal should be a safe and comfortable workplace, not one where employees must live in fear of their every action and word.

What? Sexual harassment? When I began workplace consulting back in the mid 1980s, the term “sexual harassment” hadn’t yet been conceived. Slowly, as if it were some new phenomenon, allegations of sexual harassment began to surface. But most organizations didn’t have policies or procedures to deal with these incidents.

If recent events are any measure, not much has changed significantly where sexual harassment in the workplace is concerned. In 1996, Lieutenant General Claudia J. Kennedy, the highest-ranking woman in the U.S. Army, found herself the victim of sexual harassment and tried to report it quietly through the appropriate channels. She thought that the man who had harassed her, Major General Larry Smith — would be properly punished. Then, this year, he was promoted instead and the general went public with her charges.

According to a May 10 New York Times article, the U.S. Army’s inspector general “concluded that the service’s highest-ranking woman was a victim of inappropriate sexual advances from another Army general. ?”

You would think that if such a case is reported on page one of such a prestigious newspaper, that things have really come a long way in sexual harassment cases. Wrong!

In fact, Kennedy’s case typifies the ugly course that harassment allegations usually take, even in the 21st century. Originally, the Army claimed that Kennedy never officially reported the alleged 1996 harassment incident until three months ago, shortly after Smith was recommended for promotion. Military authorities insinuated that the allegation was made as a way to get back or get even with Smith because of his promotion.

Later, after damage had already been done to Kennedy’s reputation, word trickled into the press that Kennedy had, in fact, reported the incident to her superiors, but had decided to keep the complaint informal and in house, possibly as a way to protect Smith’s reputation.

This is just one of several attempts made by military officials to discredit Kennedy. A pattern of blaming the victim, and punishing her (or him) for speaking up about mistreatment, seems to accompany almost every allegation of sexual misconduct in the workplace. And when the highest official in our land — our current president — breaks the law to cover up harassment allegations against him, it sets a poor example and a dangerous precedent. The implication is that just like in “the good old days,” the establishment can offer empty words to the abuse victim, slap the hand of the perpetrator, wink and be done with it!

Warming up and cooling down — Start exercising gradually to warm up the muscles prior to your workout. After your workout, gradually decrease the pace to cool down your body. Never start or stop exercising abruptly.
Flexibility Exercises
After you walk, I would like you to perform numbers four through 10 of the 10 Basic Stretches. Stretching is great for relaxation and improved posture as well as for increased flexibility and injury prevention. The stretches will also minimize muscle soreness. Because they are so important to your program, be sure to include the stretches in every workout.

Do not bounce when you stretch. Instead, hold each stretch for 10 to 30 seconds to the point of mild discomfort or where you “feel” the stretch. The muscles should be stretched so that you feel the pull in the center of the muscle, not at the joints. Take it slowly, relaxing and exhaling as you go into a stretch, then breathing normally.

Additional Recommendations
Even though you can only perform structured exercise two days a week, I recommend that you integrate being more active into your daily routine. For example, climb stairs more; go out for mini-walks after lunch. Since your job involves a lot of commuting in a car, you will need to look for opportunities to move your body more while on the road. You can even perform the stretches at work. The bottom line is this: I want you to be more active in general because little increases in activity add up to improved fitness benefits.

Again, good luck, Sherry! I look forward to hearing from you after your first week on the program.

Most of accidents occur at home, work so it is very important to be prepared and also to care for your friends, family, children. Buy reliable, safe, appropriate individual first aid kits from a wide variety of professional resources.
